Pilates is a unique system of strengthening and stretching the body, designed to improve one's posture and core strength by working with proper alignment, breathing, and placement.
The method was created by Joseph Pilates in the early part of the century to help rehabilitate bed-ridden and injured soldiers. It went from very humble beginnings (Joseph Pilates rigged beds with springs so the bed-ridden could exercise) to a world-wide exercise phenomenon, suitable for all walks of life.
